Pa. teacher's aide sexually assaulted 2 boys while she knew she had STDs, police say

Chelsea N. Lorson, a Pennsylvania teacher's aide was accused on Wednesday of sexually assaulting two high school boys after she was diagnosed with two sexually transmitted diseases.
The alleged sexual encounters between Chelsea N. Lorson and one of the two boys — a Lewisburg Area High School student — grew out of a Facebook text message, Buffalo Valley Regional Police say.
During one of their text messages on Jan. 20, Lorson allegedly told the juvenile she wanted to come to his house to hang out, an arrest affidavit states.
On that date and on Jan. 28, Lorson is accused of having sex with him and his younger brother in her vehicle in the driveway of their home.
The charges on which Lorson, 25, of Milton, was arraigned Wednesday list other dates in late January and early February when sexual encounters allegedly occurred.
She is free on $25,000 unsecured bail on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, statutory sexual assault, institutional sexual assault and recklessly endangering.
Lorson had been told she had two sexually transmitted diseases when she visited a hospital following a period of sickness upon returning from a trip to Haiti, the arrest affidavit states.
She has worked for the Central Susquehanna Valley Intermediate Unit for three years but was assigned to the program that took her into the older boy's classroom about five weeks ago, Executive Director Kevin Singer said Thursday.
Students in that emotional support transition class get job training in morning and academics in the classroom in the afternoon, Lewisburg Superintendent Mark DiRoco said.
The CSIU suspended Lorson with pay immediately upon being told of the allegations and has scheduled a hearing for Monday that could result in her termination, Singer said.
"We want to move as rapidly as possible," he said. "We feel the kids are safe by what we have done so far."
The investigation began, according to police, after Lorson on Jan. 30 discussed her relationship with the boys with a friend who held a position that required her, under state law, to report such abuse.
During the same meeting in a Williamsport area restaurant Lorson is alleged to have shown her friend a picture on her cellphone of the abdomen of one of the boys, the charges state.
She also related Lorson told her in a Williamsport area store on Feb. 5 she still was having sex with the boys, the charges allege. The boys were with her in the store, surveillance video shows, police said.
Lorson considered a sexual encounter with the younger boy as a birthday present, the affidavit states.
A doctor filed a report with the state's Childline hotline after being told by the boys on Feb. 11 that they'd had intercourse and oral sex with a teacher's aide multiple times.
In a letter to parents, DiRoco pointed out Lorson had passed all necessary employment requirements including background clearances.
"We understand that our parents and community members expect that adults working with our children should have the highest morals, values and ethics in their interactions with students," he wrote.
"We expect the same and deeply regret that something of this nature may have occurred with our students."
