Police, on Tuesday said a total of 39 local governments have received bomb threats via email in the past few days.
Multiple local government offices that were alerted bombs would go off on Monday afternoon, reinforced their security and searched for suspicious objects, Fuji TV reported. However, nothing was found.
Some of the threats said the bombs would explode at 3 p.m. on Monday. As a precaution, children were sent home early from nearby schools and ward offices were closed. But no explosive devices were found.
Other local governments that received bomb threats for Wednesday are still on alert, police said.
