Grief After Man Kills Family Then Commits Suicide

A man in Kisii opted to kill his wife, their son after which he committing suicide when he got to know that  is related to her and that their union should end. The suicide and homicide incidents occurred on Friday, 8th January 2016.

The man killed his young family by setting their house on fire in their rural home in Nyamache Kisii county.

The two are said to have met and started living together in Nairobi but when they went home to notify their parents, they were informed that they are related.

The deceased, Abraham Moseti, is then said to have threatened of dire consequences but no one expected what happened. His wife was aged 24-years-old and their son was one year. It is suspected that Moseti used petrol to set their house ablaze killing their son instantly but him and his wife died while undergoing treatment.


“This young man, met our daughter Alice Okemwa who is only 24 years old in Nairobi a year ago, but when they came home, we told them they could not get married as they were related,” said a neighbour as quoted by Daily Nation.

They are said to come from two clans-Omokiama and Omometobo- that never intermarry according to Kisii culture and tradition.
