Why expectant mums cherish Agbalumo

pregtalk

The popular Udara or Agbalumo (Cherry), our local cherry that pregnant mums crave for, would soon be in the market.

The season is here. You will start seeing them around. Don’t be surprised that any pregnant mother reading this would start salivating for it. You don’t blame them for that.

Udara or agbalumo usually has a sour-like taste that holds the mouth, hits the palate and stops you from throwing up. A man once complained how his pregnant wife insisted he should look for udara as late as 10 p.m. and how he was combing all over the place for it until he got some.
Amazingly, medics have asserted that the exotic yellowish and chewable fruit has some health benefits.

Vitamins and minerals: Udara serves as a good source of calcium, each one you chew provides you with 10 per cent of the amount you require each day. The calcium strengthens your bones and teeth, and it may also lessen symptoms of premenstrual syndrome such as cramping and abdominal bloating. This fruit also contains five per cent of the daily recommended value of vitamin C and vitamin A. Additionally, the fruit provides two per cent of iron, a mineral vital for oxygenating your body, which you need every day.
So, pregnant mothers, hold your peace, soon you would start having your desired fruit all over the place.
