Train crushes 3 in Ilorin


A moving train in Ilorin on Sunday crushed three persons to death inside their car.

It was gathered that the deceased, two young men and a lady, were inside a Toyota Camry car with all the windows rolled up, which prevented them from hear the sound of the moving train coming from the northern part of the country carrying southward bound passengers coming home for Christmas.
The victims, who were crushed close to the level crossing at Kulende area in the state capital, were said to be discussing, not knowing that they had parked on a level rail line and quite unaware of the approaching train.
As the train was approaching, eye-witness said the car with its occupants did not move away from the track, despite shout by people around as they had rolled up the car’s glasses.
The impact of the train, which rammed into the car, was quite devastating as the occupants were killed instantly.
Meanwhile, the remains of the victims had been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH.
As at the time this reporter was leaving the area yesterday evening, residents were seen talking in groups with their heads bowed and wearing mournful looks.
