Police in Sano, Tochigi Prefecture, said Sunday they have arrested a 27-year-old male caregiver on suspicion of molesting a 6-year-old boy in the toilet at a shopping mall.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 10:50 a.m. Saturday. Sankei Shimbun reported that the boy had come to the mall with his family from Gunma Prefecture.
Police said that when the boy went to the toilet by himself, the suspect, Yusuke Arai, followed him and molested him in a cubicle. Store surveillance camera footage showed Arai going into the toilet right after the boy, police said.
The boy told his mother that a man had touched his lower body parts and she contacted police.
Police said Arai has denied the charge.
