According to police, Naoyuki Wakamatsu slammed his son into the floor at his apartment at around 7:20 p.m. Sunday. Sankei Shimbun reported that Wakamatsu’s wife called 110 after the incident.
Police in Nakama, Fukuoka Prefecture, have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of abusing his five-month-old son.
The infant’s mother was quoted by police as saying that she and her husband had quarrelled that evening and that he had taken his anger and frustration out on their son by hurling him to the floor.
However, Wakamatsu has denied the charge, saying he has never abused his son. Police said Tuesday the child had no external signs of injury.
