Quintuplets delivered by a mother of two of in Ibadan

The babies

A woman known as Sakirat Rasaq, (28-year old) was delivered of quintuplets  (three boys and two girls) on Monday at the  special-care baby unit University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Alfa Yusuf Ewenje, 32 who is the father of the babies, was a full-time Islamic cleric. The couple already had two children,  Umoor (5) and Mistura (3)  and they resides at Ijokodo area of Ibadan. Here is what he has to say,

“We realised that Allah was going to bless us with something special when my wife had a scan after three months of the pregnancy. “At that point, we knew she was carrying five babies in her womb. After the scan was done, we went to Adeoyo State Hospital from Apete Medical Centre, Apete, Ibadan, where she first registered for antenatal care.

“At Adeoyo hospital, the doctor and nurses said it was better for us to go to the UCH, where there is enough equipment and personnel to deal with such case. “They said it was our best option. The babies arrived around 8.45am on Monday and they are all in perfect health,” he added.

Although Ewenje expressed happiness at the birth of the babies, he said he would need help from well-meaning Nigerians and the Oyo State Government to cater for his large family.

He said, “The situation we found ourselves has exhausted our savings and with five additional children to our family, I need help to feed this family.

“My dream is for them to be leaders in this country, so that no matter my present situation, people will know them for good.

“Though, I am greatly handicapped now because I only make living out of my Quranic teaching class, I want well-meaning people to come to my aid.

“I am using this medium to appeal to the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, and his wife, Florence, Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, and the Federal Government to come to my aid so that my joy won’t turn sour.”
