INNER Wheel Nigeria offered educational grant 16 orphans

INNER Wheel Nigeria, District 911 has given 16 orphans monetary support to continue their education, as well as gifts and food items to over 80 widows to support their homes.

This was done at the Inner Wheel Vocational Centre, District 911, Amuwo Odofin, in a bid to alleviate the suffering of the people and celebrate the 49th anniversary of Inner Wheel Nigeria.

The day which marks a new year for the club and the 92nd anniversary of International Inner Wheel, also featured presentation of baby care items to the first baby born on January 10 at Amuwo Odofin Primary Health Care Centre to Mr. Kenneth and Mrs. Rachael Okoro.

Speaking on the method of celebrating the new year Chairman District 911, Mrs. Olayinka Ayanwale, said “This annual celebration can be marked according to the desire of the district chairman, and this year we decided to put smiles on the faces of widows and the less privileged.

“District 911 covers Lagos and Ogun states. Six of the orphans, in addition to what we are giving them, have an annual grant of 1,000 Euros from Gisela Fund, Germany.

“We were also in Abeokuta where 38 widows were reached. Today we have 50 widows. Primary school pupils were also given gifts in the spirit of the season.”

Queen Solomon, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the orphans, enthused; “We are immensely grateful for the love you have shown us for the past 10 years. We thank you and pray your children will never be orphans.”

One of the benefiting widows , Alhaja Adebambo Abolanle, expressed her feelings thus; “God bless them in Allah’s name. I feel really good. I can see fish, tomatoes, pepper, rice, beans, semovita, clothes and other things. At least as a widow with four children it would feed us.”

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Yemi Orubo, said “Inner Wheel women have given to us, it is not easy to give and they have given out of the goodness of their heart. God will empower them more to keep doing this.”

Expressing delight at the opportunity to serve, Chairman planning committee, Mrs. Ronke Solomon, poured her heart out thus; “I thank God for the success of everything today. I really thank God for the Inner Wheel baby which the chairman named Margaret Oluwayemisi Olayinka. To the beneficiaries; it is never too late to pick up yourself from your slumber, from how low you feel you have fallen. Wake up, think and do something, no matter how little.”
