
A mentally challenged woman simply identified as Hassana gave birth to a baby boy at the central market in Kaduna on Sunday.
It took the intervention of women who circled round the woman to give her cover while she was in labour outside in broad daylight. according to Daily Trust.
It remained unclear who was reponsible for the pregnancy.
The woman, it was also gathered had been neglected for years, as sources revealed that she had been moving from one place to another in Kaduna metropolis in search of food and shelter.
On hearing the news, Senator Shehu Sani footed the woman's hospital bills at the Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital, Kaduna and promised to assist her and her baby.
He also provided the woman with rolls of pampers olive oil, baby clothes, underwear and milk with a view to nursing both mother and child back to good health.
The woman who appears to be in her early 20 and the new baby named Abdullahi are in good condition.
