Son kills father in Abeokuta
Tragedy
struck on Tuesday in Sabo area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital,
when a middle aged man allegedly killed his father, who was identified
as Baba Basirat.
It was gathered that the suspect who was said to be a habitual
drunkard was said to have pushed his 69 year-old-father during an
argument, which led to his untimely death.
The incident occurred at number 25, Akintobi Badejo Street, in the
area, on Tuesday night, when the middle-aged man whose name could not be
ascertained as at press time allegedly committed the crime.
Journalists, who were at the scene of the crime were shocked as
family members attacked them, including a vehicle belonging to Nigeria
Television Authority (NTA 12), Abeokuta.
Family
members and other sympathizers pounced on the journalists and queried
their interest to cover the incident which they referred to as a family
affair.
Members of the family and other neighbours tried their best to keep
sealed lips as they didn’t want the matter to get to the police or
public knowledge, but some of them started talking during the attack on
the journalists.
A source at the family house claimed that the father had taken his
son to church for deliverance for the drug addiction on Tuesday but
started struggling with his father at the entrance of the church, pushed
him and collapsed immediately.
