PHOTOS: Dead bodies of victims of Shiites and Nigerian Army clash

Members of a Shiite Muslim sect on Saturday attempted to assassinate Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, in Zaria, Kaduna State, the Nigerian Army said.

The Army Chief was reportedly on his way to Army graduation at Nigeria Army Depot when he was attacked.

At least 7 people are feared dead from the attack.

The clash involved the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff and the Shiites.

Gunshots were heard as people scampered for safety and fight between El-Zakzaky’s Shiite Group and Army intensified.

A Shiite member said the Nigerian Army opened fire on the El-Zakzaky Shiite group Head Quarters Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatallah in Zaria.
