Stacey Reriti, the teacher who sexually violated a schoolboy.

A Porirua teacher found guilty of sexually violating a schoolboy for three years has been named as Stacey Reriti, after name suppression was lifted on Thursday.

At the time of her offending, Reriti, 30, was deputy principal at Natone Park School in Porirua East. Her mother, Kiri Smith, is the principal.

Justice Simon France held a name suppression hearing a week ago and suppressed her name until 5pm on Thursday. 

Reriti sought final name suppression, but it was declined. 

On October 23, a jury deliberated for five hours before finding Reriti guilty of seven sex abuse charges against the boy when he was aged 10 to 13, rejecting her claims that he had lied.

The week-long High Court trial heard that she had sex with the boy in a Paraparaumu motel when he was 12, performed other sex acts, kissed him and shared intimate photos and text messages during three years of offending, starting in 2011.

The boy, now 14, told the jury he willingly had sex Reriti in the motel before Waitangi Day last year and said that she told him that she became pregnant to him, but later had an abortion.

Other witnesses also spoke about discovering their relationship, including a fellow teacher who complained to police after finding an inappropriate text message from Reriti on the boy's phone, which led to her arrest last November.

Reriti told the court the boy was a cunning liar, and that his claims were "disgusting" and "inhumane". 

Natone Park is a decile one primary school for years 1 to 6, but also has three immersion classes for pupils of Maori and Pacific descent that continue through to the end of year 8.
