Chief: Estranged husband charged in deadly shooting outside Woodruff business

Dispatchers said the coroner was called to a shooting on Sloan Rd. in Woodruff (FOX Carolina/ Nov. 20, 2015)

WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A woman was killed and a man was taken to the hospital after the two were shot outside Suntex Printing office on Sloan Drive in Woodruff early Friday morning, according to police Chief Alan Bledsoe.

A suspect was arrested at the scene.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the shooting victim as Susan Rene Long Jeter, 43, of Spartanburg. Clevenger said she died from injuries caused by the gun shot. 

The shooting was reported just before 8 a.m. Friday.

Bledsoe said a person working inside called 911.

Bledsoe could not confirm if the victims were employees at Suntex but said the shootings happened when the business was opening for the day.

Susan Rene Long Jeter died at the scene and the male victim who was shot in the head was taken to the hospital in stable condition, Bledsoe said.

Officers identified the suspected shooter as Paul Earl Jeter, Susan Jeter's estranged husband. Police said they had been separated for several months.

Paul Jeter is charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.
