China has decided to end its decades-long one-child policy, Xinhua news agency has reported.
All couples will now be
allowed to have two children, the state-run news agency said, citing a
statement from the Communist Party.
The town of Rudong was once
held up as a model of enforcement for the one child policy, but it is
now creaking under the weight of an ageing population, as John Sudworth
reports.
